SUMMARY:Vice-versa. From ethnography to fine craftsmanship
DESCRIPTION:An exhibition organized by the “Métiers d’art de la Province de Hainaut” \nCreative craftsmen of the “Métiers d’art du Hainaut” were invited to create objects inspired by the culture of the Abelam\, a people of Oceania to which the exhibition “ABELAM – Facing the stars” is dedicated. \nAbout fifteen artists (ceramists\, glaziers\, creators of lamps and jewellery\, textile designers\, lacemakers\, milleners\, upholsterers\, cutlers etc.) worked on the subject and have proven that there are no limits to creation as more than fifty art objects are on display in an elaborate scenography. There are decorative objects as well as utility items based on the masks of this indigenous people of Papua New Guinea. \n
